These projections are estimates based on Unis's launch assumptions: $0.70/month average ad revenue per active user, paid tier at $5.99/month. Audio ad projections apply MLC compulsory royalties at 15% per 2026 CRB Phonorecords IV rates. Audio ads are not yet available on Unis — the audio tab models earnings once audio ads launch after Unis completes agreements with an audio advertising partner. Actual earnings will depend on platform-wide ad fill rates, geography, and your supporters' activity. Unis will publish real platform averages quarterly once we have statistically significant data.

Four ways your fans pay you

The math, broken down.

Here's exactly what each stream is, how it pays, and what it looks like in dollars. Every split below is encoded in the Unis platform — not marketing, not promise. Code.

01

Display ad supporter income

15% of display ad revenue · passive · daily
Every day your fan opens the app, you earn. Even if they don't press play.
What it is

When someone picks you as their artist at signup, Unis sends 15% of every display ad they generate — scrolling, browsing, tapping around the app — straight to you. Every day. Whether they press play on your music or not.

How it compares

Spotify has no mechanism for a listener to fund a specific artist without streaming. On Unis, you're earning from every second they have the app open.

Illustrated math
An active supporter sees ~$0.70 in display ads per month.
After the 15% supporter share → $0.11 to you, per active supporter, per month.
100 supporters · 40% daily active = ~$4/month passive.
1,000 supporters · 40% active = ~$42/month passive.
(Active-day rate adjustable in the calculator above.)
02

Audio ad streaming income

60% of net audio ad revenue · performance-basedComing soon
Your plays fund you directly. Not a shared pool.
What it is

Pre-roll audio ads before your songs. Artist gets 60% of net after MLC compulsory royalties are paid. The referral pool (10/5/2%) fires on top. Unis keeps 23%. This stream is not yet live — audio ads launch once Unis completes agreements with an audio ad partner.

How it compares

Spotify's pro-rata pool means your streams get averaged against Drake's and Taylor Swift's, so a small artist earns $0.003–$0.005 per stream. Unis pays you directly on your ad revenue, not a shared pool.

Illustrated math
5,000 monthly plays · 60% audio ad fill rate · $0.015 per filled ad
= ~$45 gross revenue tied to your plays
After MLC (~15.3%) → ~$38 net
Artist's 60% → ~$23/month for that level of play.
03

Paid tier subscription income

50% of $5.99/month · direct · predictable
Every paid fan sends you $2.99 a month. Directly. No pool.
What it is

Every Unis user who upgrades to ad-free is still tied to their supported artist. When they pay $5.99/month, half of that — $2.99 — goes straight to you. Not pooled. Not pro-rata. Direct.

How it compares

Spotify Premium revenue goes into a global pool that splits across every artist by stream share. Your share of a Premium user who streams Drake 90% of the time is effectively zero. On Unis, if that user chose you, you get half their subscription no matter what they listen to.

Illustrated math
100 supporters · 8% paid conversion rate = 8 paid supporters
8 × $2.99 = $23.92/month
500 supporters at 8% conversion = 40 paid → $119.60/month predictable.
04

Direct sales

85% of sale price · paid in 2 business days
Sell directly to your fans. Keep 85%. Paid in 2 business days.
What it is

Set your own price ($1.99 floor, no ceiling). Fan pays, you keep 85%. Unis takes 15% to cover payment processing and platform costs. Stripe deposits to your bank in two business days.

How it compares

Bandcamp takes 15% and pays at similar speed, so we're comparable on cut — but most streaming platforms don't offer direct sales at all. Compared to iTunes, you net more per sale and wait days instead of months.

Illustrated math
20 tracks sold at $1.99/month → $39.80 gross
85% to artist → $33.83/month
Paid out twice a week, not monthly.
Plus, for every Unis user · not just artists

10% / 5% / 2% referrals, three levels deep. Lifetime.

When you bring someone to Unis, you earn 10% of their ad revenue for as long as they use the app. Their referrals earn you 5%. Their referrals' referrals earn you 2%. Applied to both display and audio ads. Not artist-specific — every Unis user earns this way, stacked on top of whatever else they have going.

Same fan. Different math.

One fan on Spotify
vs. one fan on Unis.

Let's take the same person — a dedicated fan who listens to your music 20 times a month, streams other artists 300 times a month, and is already paying Spotify Premium. Here's what each platform pays you for that one human.

Spotify Premium user
They pay their platform$11.99/mo
Your share of that payment~$0.003 × 20 streams = $0.06
Plus daily activity (non-music)$0
Your take per month · this one fan
~$0.06
Unis supporter (paid tier)
They pay their platform$5.99/mo
Your share of that payment50% of $5.99 = $2.99
Plus daily activity (supporter share)15% of ~$0.70/mo = $0.11
Your take per month · this one fan
~$3.10

That's a 51x difference per dedicated fan.

Not because Unis is magic — because Unis is built differently. You're not a number in a pool. You're the business.

Spotify per-stream rate based on 2025 industry average ($0.003–$0.005). Assumes ~20 streams/mo of the artist's music in a rotation of ~320 total monthly streams on Premium. Unis calculation assumes $0.70/month display ad revenue per active user, 15% supporter share, 50% paid-tier split at $5.99/mo.

The business model

Where does Unis's revenue come from, then?

Fair question — a platform paying 60–85% cuts needs to fund itself somehow. Here's exactly where.

01
68%

Platform share of display ads

Every display ad routes 68% to Unis, 15% to the user's chosen artist, 17% to the referral chain. We build and run on the 68%.

02
23%
of net · once audio launches

Platform share of audio ads

After MLC royalties come off the top, Unis takes 23% of what's left. The artist takes 60%; the referral chain takes 17%.

03
50%
of every $5.99/mo

Platform share of paid subscriptions

Half of every paid subscription funds operations. The other half goes directly to the artist that user supports.

04
15%
of every $1.99+ sale

Platform share of direct sales

Covers payment processing (Stripe takes ~3%) and platform operating costs. You keep 85%.

We make money when the community uses the platform. Not when we own your work.

Questions

The practical questions
every artist asks.

Direct sales are paid in two business days via Stripe. All other earnings (display ads, paid-tier share, audio ads when they launch, referrals) accumulate in your dashboard balance and can be withdrawn once the balance hits $50. Payouts go to your bank account via Stripe Connect.
